Data Sources & Coverage
Everything served by the SEC Daily API originates from the SEC's own EDGAR system — we parse, normalize, and enrich it so you don't have to.
Source
All filing, news, and insider transaction data is sourced directly from SEC EDGAR, the official public filing system of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. We do not resell or aggregate from third-party data vendors.

What we normalize
Raw EDGAR data is verbose and inconsistently structured. We process it into clean, queryable JSON:
- Form types — standardized across all filer types (e.g.
10-K,8-K/A,SCHEDULE 13G) - Dates and times — converted to Eastern Time with consistent ISO 8601 formatting
- CIK numbers — zero-padded and cross-referenced with ticker symbols and company names
- Insider transactions — transaction codes, share counts, and prices extracted from Form 4 XML
- Filing documents — primary document URLs resolved and linked alongside full document indexes
Data accuracy
We strive for complete fidelity to the source data. If you spot a discrepancy between our API response and what EDGAR shows, email support@secdaily.io and we'll investigate.
For the authoritative record, always refer to sec.gov. Our API is a convenience layer, not a legal data source.
Companies covered
We cover all entities that file with the SEC — over 120,000 companies, funds, and insiders. This includes public companies, ETFs, mutual funds, hedge funds filing Schedule 13D/G, and individual insiders filing Form 4.
